About Us
Right-Sized Work™ exists because self-care, pizza parties, and “wellness perks” are not fixing 1.5 FTE jobs in 0.8 bodies. This is a home base for high-pressure professionals who’ve tried being “more resilient” and still ended up with a nervous system on fire. Instead of blaming your mindset, Right-Sized Work treats burnout as a systems and workload problem, and gives you practical, printable tools to change the actual load, rules, and rhythms of your day.
About Maria
Right-Sized Work is led by me, Maria Vought, MHI, BSN, RN-BC — a board-certified nursing informatics and healthcare systems expert who has spent over 15 years inside some of the most complex hospital systems in the country. My work has focused on service line leadership, process improvement, direct clinical care, and clinical informatics, with a laser focus on how humans and systems interact in real life, not just in slide decks. After years of running on impossible math, my own body finally broke under the very systems I was helping to run. I couldn’t find anything that treated burnout as a physics problem instead of a personal failure, so I decided to write the book I needed to read and build the resources I desperately needed before I had words for what was happening. I’ve lived this from every angle — oncology director with a 24/7 phone, strategic deployment specialist, and disabled-leaning wife and mom of two — and Right-Sized Work is my way of turning that lived experience into tools that respect real humans, real limits, and real stakes.
